Learning to Mourn the Wicked

Picture
Is it right for Christians to celebrate the death of someone who is wicked?

Wicked the Musical tells the story of the Land of Oz from the perspective of the witches that are seen in The Wizard of Oz, and has been drawing in audiences from all over the world since its debut in 2003. While some Christians are quick to assume that the play is inappropriate because its plot is centered on witches, a simple examination of the story reveals that there is more to the witches in the story than what can be seen on the surface. Through Learning to Mourn the Wicked, you will:

- Understand how Christians should respond when someone who is considered evil dies, in fiction or real life
- Evaluate why it is unwise to take justice into our hands or use deception to get what we want
- Examine many of the prominent characters and themes in Wicked the Musical through the lens of a Christian worldview
-
Discuss if the existence of witches and witchcraft within a fantasy story makes it inappropriate for a Christian to view- Find tools that will help you discern if Wicked the Musical is a good choice of entertainment for you or your family

Through a deeper look into the story, you will come to see the story of Wicked the Musical through the lens of the gospel and learn how to help others to do the same.

Reimaging the Nativity

Picture
What if the real nativity story didn't look anything like we imagine it today?

Nativity scenes have become an iconic and beloved tradition of the Christmas season, but most Christians don't realize how much the story of Jesus' birth doesn't match up with the story we tell every Christmas season. In Revisiting the Nativity, we will:

- Expose several fictionalized elements of the nativity story that are not mentioned in the Bible
- Examine what the Scripture does tell us happened when Jesus was born and why some traditional elements of the story don't match up with Scripture
- Be challenged to use the Bible as our foundation of knowledge before relying on Christmas traditions or assumptions.

Be prepared to dismiss false facts so that we can focus on the real reason we celebrate the birth of Jesus - the miracle of His incarnation, which should cause us to celebrate, not just on Christmas, but all year long.

Why Sacrificial Love Isn't Grey

Picture
Does our culture's celebration of Valentine's Day really honor Saint Valentine? Would Saint Valentine disapprove of the Fifty Shades series and his name being used to promote it?

In our world today, love is defined in many ways that are vague. The love that Saint Valentine believed in was anything but grey - it was black and white, and sacrificial in its nature. In this short book, we explore the life of Saint Valentine, what his life and martyrdom can teach us today, and use this information to evaluate how he would most likely feel about the Fifty Shades being promoted in his name when the films were released. Even if you know very little about the series, this book will help equip you with a perspective from a biblical worldview.

Includes a bonus article "Refuting Fifty Shades of Arguments", addressing 5 common arguments made by fans in favor of the Fifty Shades series, exploring the fault in their logic, and teaching how you can engage in conversations with them in a God-honoring way.
